Statement

“Cities, like dreams, are made of desires and fears, even if the thread of their discourse is secret, their
rules are absurd, their perspectives deceitful, and everything conceals something else.”
- Italo Calvino

Structures in cities hold the stories of the lives of their occupants. When the structures of cities fall into decline and our collective attention has turned elsewhere, what remains?

These photographs are from my body of film-based work: urban remains, a series of images of feral interiors and social/industrial landscapes in which I decode or fabricate what might be beyond the wound(s) of the physical world in ruin on a single frame. My process of making images with film is a method of slow looking - a gesture for living, and celebrates the magic of photography and analogue processes – the recording of light on material surfaces sensitive to light.
