Nas Filho
The Fall, 2025 Nas Filho
Liminal is a deeply personal work created with black and white photographs exploring loneliness, anxiety, and the search for connection.
Created throughout 2024 and early 2025, the work draws inspiration from poetry that can be seen on cigarette packs, surrealism, and the complexities of human emotion.
Cigarettes appear as a recurring symbol, reflecting my own rituals of coping with isolation. Moments spent reading poetry trying to make sense of feelings and anxiety. Through these images I invite the viewers to step into an emotional space visually represented in the series.
Nas is a photographer based in Toronto whose signature black and white imagery captures the raw essence of contemporary life. As a member of Gallery 44 since 2019, his work has evolved from street photography to a more introspective visual language inviting conversations about pressing societal issues such as depression, the cost of living, affordable housing and mental health. His work is an engagement with human nature, reflecting the struggles of modern society.
